"You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden ....
In the same way, let your light shine before (people),
that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven
(Matthew 5:14, 16)
PASS IT ON– (by Kurt Kaiser)
“It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
and soon all those around will warm up in its glowing.
That’s how it is with God’s love once you’ve experienced it;
you spread His love to everyone, you want to pass it on.”
Dear Family of Faith,
Some of you know that my favorite praise and worship song of all time is called “Pass It On.” The song brings back cherished childhood memories of church camp; new friends singing together around a campfire. When I learned to play the guitar, my biggest goal was to be able to play that song with a passion that would help me relive those beautiful memories.
As I matured I realized “Pass It On” wasn’t just about being with friends at camp, but a call to live according to Jesus’ plan: “You are the light of the world … let your light shine before (people)…” In a perfect world – the world Jesus envisions – we will always be looking for the opportunity to do this.
To this end: I would like to thank Judy Thompson for an inspiration! She approached both our Fellowship and Membership and Evangelism Committees, inspiring us to shine our light to the neighborhood around the church by hosting a free pancake breakfast! Recognizing the potential of this event, both committees immediately jumped on board. We will actually be going into the neighborhood around the church, knocking on doors and giving personal invitations for people to join us!
So – how about you? Will you join us, too?
As you consider, please remember that this is an outreach. Come and eat yourselves, but also stop and greet others who will be experiencing our fellowship for the first time. Let’s bring Christ’s light to our neighborhood!
This breakfast will take place on Saturday, August 3, from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. We would welcome you as early as 7:45 to help ensure everything is ready to go on time. If you have an electric griddle we may use, please bring it!
“May the Lord bless and keep you …” always!
